Painter Biography

Virginie Houdet was born in 1957 in Nantes, France, into a family of artists.
Her grandfather, Jean Bouchaud was elected member of l’ Institut des Beaux Arts
Today, she lives and works in Paris and in Chicago.

Passionate about visual Arts from an early age, she began photographing her world and explored cartooning, 2D, 3D, etching, engraving and mapping. She perfected her skills in movies … editing, special effects, directing, and finally becoming the source of the image by shooting video.

From the 1990’s, she studied painting with Véronique Masurel at Atelier des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, reconnecting with her family heritage and finding her personal voice between painting, editing and film directing.

Her favorite abstract painters are Malevich, Sonia Delaunay and Klee.
The Louvre nourishes her, inspires her, stimulates her creativity and imagination. She copies the old master’s painting and just discovered Art of the Ancient Near East.

She is nourished by the previous, embarking on a poetic adventure in the present.
